Nothing Exciting

Hey, it’s been a long time since I’ve written a blog. I guess I’ve just gotten used to daily life here at site and so I figure nothing exciting is happening. So in this entry I shall share all the not exciting things that are happening. :)

Yesterday all three of us Peace Corps volunteers got together and presented what we have been up to with the Health Center at San Marcos. My site is San Marcos but the other two volunteers in the area work with the counterpart agency of the health posts, which is under management of the health center in San Marcos. Hence, my counterpart likes to know what’s going on and what the other volunteers are doing (also, she’s nosey.)

Anyway, it was definitely more productive than I thought it would be and we did a pretty little power point presentation for eight of the workers in the Health Center including all the doctors that were there that day. We talked about how they could better support us and what we have been doing when we weren’t at the health posts. It was very useful to get opinions and suggestions from the doctors and health experts from the area. For example, the dentist expressed interest in doing a dental health talk in the schools and the head of the health center said that if I turn in the topics that I am going to do that month on my radio show, we can brainstorm on how the health center can help me on the topics. Um, cool? So, basically, no one knows if all this will happen as dictated but I think a lot of really interesting and helpful opportunities were discussed and I’m really excited about my last (gasp!) few months in Peace Corps.
