I'm in Panama... who knew?

Hey all,
Well, I'm back in a Peace Corps office.... though this one happenes to be in Panama City! Just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the Miraflores Locks of the Panama Canal. (Unfortunately I can't jump with the knee and everything -- and I have to get to a doctor's appointment so I won't be going there just yet..)
The office is a lot different than the one in Peru but also mostly the same.. :) It is located on an old military base but since Panama doesn't have a military, well, now there are offices here and Subway's. (Yum, Subway...)
I keep trying to figure out how to use the public transportation here but everyone says I should just use the taxis. Urgh. Little do they know that this makes me want to use the buses even more just to spite everyone so as soon as I'm not worthy of a personal chofer (right now I'm getting driven around everywhere and it's marvelous) I'm going to the streets. Muahahaha.
Last night I got in and figured out how to purchase an overpriced phone card but it's an extra tarif if I were to use said phone card on the hotel phone. And the internet is two dollars an hour. Sheez. This place is worse than Lima. In expensive ol' Lima the hostals have one or two FREE internet accessed computers.
I DID meet another volunteer who is here from El Salvador and works in Youth Development. SHe is here with her mom so I was hoping to have someone to bum around with but I think she might be doing the family thing... Sigh.
Other than that, I haven't been out much, mostly waiting for phone calls and people to come take me to do what I came to do. I'm a little hesitant to go out and figure things out as I basically have no idea where I am but I'm going to get shown around today (what places are good and what places are dangerous) and I'm still getting used to carrying around the proper amount of cash. (So far the most I've walked around with is $10 and that turned out to not be quite enough... crazy though, that's like 30 soles! I never walk around with that much money!)
Ok, well if i spend time here at the oficina then I'll be uploading pictures momentarily. If not, I'll be uploading them in Peru when I'm back on Tuesday.
Hmm... It just started raining really hard. Me and my short sleeve shirt are going to have a great time with this.... No one told me I needed to bring my sierra rain coat! Aaah!
